I'd been intending to make my own Bircher Museli for ages but it looked like lots of work - you have to be organised enough to do stuff the night before you eat it - so kept putting it off for "one day". Last weekend, I bit the bullet and made some. Whoa, it is easy peasy as well as being a filling, healthy and delicious breakfast. A couple of minutes preparation the night before isn't really an effort and you can make enough for a few days, then add variety with different fruits etc when you go to eat it.
This is the recipe for my version:
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup natural low fat yohurt
1/2 cup apple juice
10 g ground almonds (you could easily leave this out)
Combine the night before eating and put in the fridge. I also chucked in a handful of frozen raspberries at this stage.
Dish up one serving and add half a grated apple plus anything else you fancy (eg. strawberries or other fresh fruit, dried apricots, sultanas, honey etc - not included in the calories below). Strawberries are my favourite so far.
This recipe makes 4 serves.

The info above was using Spring Valley apple juice (couldn't get unsweeted but that would be better) and Jalna yoghurt.
I think this is going to become my regular breakfast, with a few variations.

I will have to try it out - thanks!
